Who is Guido

Guido is one of those few select mountain bikers who has truly seen it all and done it all. He’s been there from the beginning, back when racing rigid bikes downhill was the only option. He’s been a part of the evolution of our sport, as well as a part of pioneering events like the Red Bull Rampage. Continuing that theme, he was an early adapter of pedal-assist cycling in 2013 and has since become a critical thinker and contributor to the rapidly developing eMTB scene.

Spend five minutes with the guy and it’s clear Guido loves what he does. He’s no spring chicken, but with a kid-at-heart attitude he can still show younger riders the way to go. And when he’s not riding bikes, he can be found passing on life lessons to either his own children or the next generation of up-and-comers, sculpting trails or organising ride events. Two wheels are always involved with Guido.

Guido’s eMTB riding hotspots

With a lifetime of mountain biking experience, Guido fills us in on where his favourite places to ride eMTB in Germany, Europe and worldwide are.

Home is best

My hometown of Chiemgau in Bavaria has some great eMTB riding. Of course I know my way around the region well, but the terrain has a great mix of uphills, downhills and rolling trails. There’s a bit of everything - from technical riding to fast, flowing stuff.

Allgäu for the views

Where I originally grew up in Allgäu is a hotspot for riding in Germany. I try to return as often as I can to go ride with my old friends. It seems every time we meet up there’s a new trail to ride. With lots of altitude the views are magnificent too.

Gran Canaria island life

Every year, for about 20 years, I spend a few days in Gran Canaria riding. It’s a great location for perfect winter conditions in Europe. The island has so many different trails, from dry and dusty to totally green jungle-like terrain - you get everything there.

Italian Alps & pasta

South Tyrol in Italy is spectacular - it’s a great eMTB location. I really like the region of Latsch. There are incredibly fun flowing trails that last forever. It’s also hard to beat the Italian food too. Spring and autumn are the best times of the year for getting the weather just right.

Put Squamish on the bucket list

Squamish in Canada is one of my favourite places in the world to ride. It’s ideal for eMTB because there’s no lift or shuttle services. The trails are amazing with everything you can imagine.
